  • How many barrels of oil does Congo produce a day?
  • Currently, Congolese oil production is limited to the Coastal Basin, yielding 25,000 barrels per day of offshore production, all of which is exported. Along with recently identified potential oil fields, the DRC may hold as many as 30 billion cubic meters of methane and natural gas in three major petroleum deposits.
  • Why is Congo a low-carbon country?
  • Congo’s oil production is expected to decline in the medium term due to the depletion of oil reserves and reduced external demand from the global transition to a low-carbon economy. While oil accounts for 40% of GDP, the sector employs only a fraction of the country’s workforce, with three-quarters of Congolese employed in the informal sector.
  • What petroleum products does the DRC import?
  • The DRC imports all its refined petroleum fuels and lubricants. Refined petroleum products, including gasoline, aviation fuel, kerosene; petroleum-based lubricants; oil refining operations, biofuels production. There are currently three major oil companies conducting extractive operations in the DRC.
  • Which offshore fields do we operate in the Republic of the Congo?
  • In the Republic of the Congo, we operate the following offshore fields (in production): Moho Nord, Moho-Bilondo, Nkossa, Nsoko II, Yanga and Sendji. We also hold interests in several offshore producing assets. Lastly, we operate the Djéno oil terminal. We are currently examining plans to solarize the terminal.
