  • Which countries export oilseeds?
  • For other oilseeds, the internationally traded share of global production traded remains much lower at about 13% of world production as the two largest producers, China and the European Union, are net-importers. The main exporters are Canada, Australia, and Ukraine, which are projected to account for more than 69% of world exports by 2030.
  • What is the outlook for soybeans & oilseeds?
  • The relative strength of the meal component in the overall crush value is expected to remain stable during the projection period. In this year’s Outlook, soybeans and other oilseeds (rapeseed, sunflower seed and groundnuts) are separated. The production of soybeans is expected to grow by 2.4% p.a. compared to 4.2% p.a. during the last decade.
  • Are oilseeds a major crop in Africa?
  • African countries, as a whole, produce small amounts of soybean and it is not expected that there will be a significant increase. However, some countries, such as South Africa and to a lesser extent Zambia, are testing oilseeds as a potential major crop.
  • Which vegetable oil is the most produced in the world?
  • Though soybeans are the most produced type of oilseed, the world’s leading vegetable oil is palm oil. In 2021/2022, about 73.83 million metric tons of palm oil was produced worldwide. In comparison, the production volume of soybean oil amounted to around 59.26 million metric tons in that year.
