Navigating the Oil Expeller Market: A Buyer’s Guide

  • What are the energy needs of Myanmar?
  • At present, Myanmar’s energy needs are met by oil, gas, hydro and renewable and solar projects. The country’s oil production is approximately 11,866bbl/d. However, the present daily oil consumption rate is estimated to be approximately 29,000bbl/d. Myanmar is, by consumption, a net importer of oil.
  • Can a mechanical oil expeller press be used in small scale oil extraction?
  • A mechanical oil expeller press was designed and analyzed with simulation software (ANSYS) in this paper. This expeller can be used in small scale oil extraction. ASME shaft design code was used in designing the screw shaft of the press. Locally available material (mild steel) was used in manufacturing of the expeller.
  • How many edible oil mills are there in Myanmar?
  • East Lansing: Michigan State University. This report presents findings from a survey of edible oil mills in Myanmar’s Central Dry Zone, comprised of structured interviews with 144 mills in five urban centers, and 38 mills in rural areas of nine townships (total 182 mills). The following results stand out:
  • Is Myanmar a net importer of oil?
  • Myanmar is, by consumption, a net importer of oil. In the short term, Myanmar will be increasingly dependent on oil imports. However, once CNPC’s refining facilities and pipelines are in place, Myanmar will increasingly rely on crude oil imports to satisfy its domestic needs and may become a net exporter of refined products.
