  • What is cold expeller pressed sesame oil?
  • Cold expeller pressed sesame oil is derived from sesame seeds and is one of the most stable natural oils. It varies in color from light to deep reddish-yellow. Sesame oil is considered an abundant source of linoleic and oleic acids, which together account for 75%–85% of all fatty acids, with smaller amounts of stearic (5%–6%) and palmitic acids (7%–8%).
  • Which seeds produce high value added oil?
  • For this study, sesame, linseed, palm kernel and jatropha were chosen, because these seeds represent a wide range of physical properties and produce high value added oils. They range from soft to hard and from high to relatively low oil content. Furthermore rapeseed was included as a representative of the bulk oilseeds.
  • What is sesame seed oil (SSO)?
  • Sesame seed oil (SSO) is an edible vegetable oil derived from sesame seeds (SS) (Sesamum indicum L.) through cold pressing and filtering.
  • What is the maximum oil yield for linseed & sesame seeds?
  • For both sesame and linseed maximum oil yield was obtained at a moisture content of about 4 wt%. Maximum yields obtained were 45–55 wt% (oil/oil) for hulled seeds (linseed, rapeseed, palm kernel and jatropha) and 70–75 wt% (oil/oil) for dehulled seeds (sesame and dehulled jatropha).
