  • Can TPO be used with diesel fuel?
  • TPO is produced by the pyrolysis process of the scrap automobile tires, and it is one of the leading products of the waste tire. But the limitation of the TPO is that it's up to 90% blend can be used with diesel fuel (DF), even after refining its fuel quality. TPO can also be used in diesel engines that are running on dual fuel mode [ ].
  • How to reduce tire pyrolysis in diesel engine?
  • It can be minimized by using a biodiesel blend. Tire pyrolysis oil up to 20% share in the blend is used in diesel engines without alteration. But in higher shares of TPO, alteration in the injections is recommended to compensate for the longer ID.
  • What is tire pyrolysis oil (TPO)?
  • Standard diesel fuel is used to make blends with tire pyrolysis oil (TPO). The blends obtained produced no harmful odors, nor does the procedure requires extreme safety measures. TPO process requires waste shredded tires, with steel wires removed, which are heated in a thermal chamber at high temperatures, around 400–600 ℃ (Yaqoob et al. 2021).
  • Can Pyrolytic oil be used in a diesel engine?
  • There are various technologies studied for efficient use of waste tires, such as pyrolysis, which results in char, oil, and non-condensable gases. Tire pyrolytic oil (TPO) has been reported to be similar to commercial diesel fuel. The current hurdle for using TPO in commercial diesel engines is the available sulfur content (>1.0 wt%).
