  • What is furnace fuel?
  • The furnace fuel is the fuel-oil fraction from petroleum. In Fig. 3, we show the basic furnace system. On that basis, the system parameters are calculated by means of CHEMCAD software. Fig. 3. Basic furnace system. The furnace burns fuel oil. The supplies to the furnace are fuel oil (combustion chamber 6), air (flux 1), and steam (flux 11).
  • What type of air heating system is used in Omsk Oil Refinery?
  • The system of heating atmospheric air fed to the burners with the heat of the outgoing stack gases is more widespread. In one recent Kedr-89 design of atmospheric heating furnace F-1 for the AT-9 unit at Omsk Oil Refinery, a classic air heating scheme is used (Fig. 1). Furnace F-1 is box-shaped, two-section, with horizontal coils.
  • What is an oil refinery?
  • This approach may be adopted in modernizing existing systems or creating new systems. An oil refinery is a complex set of shops, machines, and systems with automatic control. Its product range is broad and includes, in particular, gasoline, kerosene, fuel oil, diesel fuel, and coke .
  • Which furnaces have forced draft and firing fuel gas?
  • Furnaces 1, 2, 3, and 4 are cabin-type furnaces with forced draft and firing fuel gas. Furnace 5 is a cylindrical furnace with forced draft and firing fuel gas. To limit the project scope, an APH will be designed to enhance the energy efficiency of furnaces 1 to 4, which are the largest ones, with close to 220 MW fired duty in total.
