- What are the potential investment opportunities in PNG?
- Apart from the PNG’s main coconut exports (Copra, CNO and Copra Meal), there are greater and untapped potential investment opportunities lie in value added products such as desiccated coconut, virgin coconut oil (VCO), coconut oil bio- fuel, coconut shell charcoal, coconut coir fibre and coconut timber.
- How many coconut exporters are there in PNG?
- There are more than 20 registered exporters, 3 coconut oil mills and 1 bio-diesel plant in PNG. However only less than half of the total exporters have been actively exporting main coconut products, of which 64% are international investment companies and 36% are locally owned companies.
- Where are coconuts grown in PNG?
- Results of the leaf analysis carried out through PNG gives additional indications of the coconut growing environment in the major producing provinces such as East New Britain, Madang, New Ireland, West New Britain, Milne Bay, East Sepik, Morobe, Central, Oro and Gulf Provinces.
- Does PNG export copra?
- In terms of world coconut product trade, PNG’s production and exports remain at an average of about 1.1% of the world market share. Two major traditional copra export destinations for PNG has been the Philippines and Australia.
