The refinery at Bentiu can produce diesel, gasoline, and heavy fuel oil from domestic crude oil, enabling the country to meet some of its consumption needs and raising the possibility of exporting petroleum products regionally.

The Dar and Nile blends are the two main crude oil grades used for export and domestic consumption. The Dar blend is a heavy crude oil with a low sulfur content.
